Juice Fast: Week One
Two weeks ago we watched Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead, a documentary by Joe Cross, a man who was overweight, unhealthy, & tired of it. He went on a 60 day juice fast & changed his life forever, along with many others.
After seeing how Joe & the others in the film used juice fasting as a way to provide the body with quality nutrition while allowing it to heal & burn fat, Landon decided it would be a good thing to try.
So today, August 1st, my wonderful husband is starting a 30 day juice fast. I’ll be checking in with him on how it’s going on The Thinking Mom once a week. Here’s what he had to say today:
Stats
Weight: 270 lbs.
Blood Pressure: 133/73
Heart rate: 79
Waist: 53 1/4″
Chest: 49 1/2″
Neck: 18 1/2″
K: What made you decide to try a juice fast?
L: I’m sick of being fat. I’m sick of getting sick. I’m just tired of feeling bad.
What are your goals through this fast?
Ultimately to be healthy & lose weight. I wanna look good & buy the clothes I wanna buy. I’m sick of looking like a donut. Not to many good clothing stores carry “fat size”.
What about your family? You wanna, like, be around for us?
Yeah, that too.
This far in, how do you feel about juicing?
It’s Day 1.
Yeah. So, how do you feel about it?
The process is fine. I get really annoyed with the clean up of it, but it’s worth it. But then again you have to clean up if you cook too. It’s nice having the option of mixing fruit & vegetables, the fruit helps with the blandness that vegetable juice sometimes has.
Okay thanks.
You don’t have any other questions for me?
No. Should I?
I think my comedic responses might make your readers laugh. You need to make them laugh sometimes.
Landon will be blogging about his experience on his website too, www.landonperkins.com. Check it out if you’re interested – he’ll probably make you laugh 🙂
I’ll be writing on Landon’s progress here again next week. In the meantime, I highly suggest watching Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead. You can watch instantly on Netflix, rent it on iTunes, or buy the DVD.
Happy Monday!

August 3, 2011 at 8:23 pmhahaha! This interview is fuuuuuuuunny. I can totally picture this interview happening in the living room. My favorite is how you had to remind him that he wants to be around for the fam. His number one reason was the clothes!!!! I love Landon!
