Christmas Fun

Christmastime is craaazy fast. My mom says it’s because Thanksgiving was so late this year. I hope so, but I’m thinking it also has something to do with having 4 children, and the way each day flies.

Landon was saying the other day that he is not ready for Christmas already next week. I said “I know, it’s crazy, and it is fast, but on the other hand, it’s CHRISTMAS!” So yay, it’s here!

I absolutely love photographing all the sparkle and cheer and magic of Christmastime. These moments pass so quickly, that much of it I would hardly remember if it weren’t for putting it in a photo.

And then one of my favorite things to do is to sit down when all the kids are asleep (it’s rare, but occasionally happens), and look through the photos I’ve been taking.

When I look at pictures from right now, it makes me see very clearly what a blessing it is to have these sweet little people living in my house.

For me, photos is what makes time slow down.

But really, I think the main reason Christmastime flies by, is because there’s so much fun! I like to remember the saying you can do anything, but you can’t do everything. Choose wisely 😉

We’ve been baking a lot. Kaden made 7 layer bars by himself, and Alia made a batch of fudge (I supervised & helped a little, but they both did great!)

The kids are loving The Remarkable Christmas of the Cobbler’s Sons, a book a friend passed on to us. I’m beginning to realize anything Barbara Cooney illustrated is wonderful.

We also love the “Santa’s Workshop” short on Disney+ (the old Silly Symphonies are always the best!)

We had the Harveys over earlier this week to watch Scrooge, Alex introduced us to that musical a few years ago & we all love it. It’s such a great rendition of A Christmas Carol.

Alia had her first Christmas recital, she played Jolly Old Saint Nicolas on violin, and Good King Wenceslas on piano. It was so fun to watch her play!

And of course we’re all loving being in our new home 🙂 So often I think to myself, this time last year, all that was here was dirt!
