The illusion of perfection
I think there’s a danger in blogging, that the images and words chosen to share can create an idea that a given bloggers life is “perfect”. I’ve found myself at times thinking that way, reading other blogs. She and her husband never fight. Her kids never throw fits. Fill in the blank. And then I realize, if I just saw my blog and not my real life, I may have those misconceptions about myself too. Because a blog, Facebook, Instagram feed, they’re just a little window.
I think of the moms I know, and every one of their lives could make a great blog. Because everyone has a story. Some of us choose to share it online. Some people start blogging and find this outlet of writing and pictures and connection and learning and inspiration and it’s awesome. But not perfect. Life will never be perfect. There will always be diaper blow outs and laundry piles and miscommunications scattered in.
But life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.
Hope you have a truly lovely day.

April 8, 2013 at 9:53 pmI think that all of us have that thought sometimes. But you are right everyone has trials and problems. We never know what kind of burdens people might be bearing behind their smile. Sometimes I think I am to naive or think to positive. I just find joy in everyday life and simple things. Today it was cleaning my screen porch and getting it ready to enjoy. And it happened that Renee and Logan stopped by after dinner and we visited out there. (Logan is home for a week between welding jobs.). Our daffodils are in full bloom now and are beautiful. I’m so glad spring has finally arrived.
