Christmas in July

If you’re looking for something fun to do with your kids at home this summer, we suggest trying Christmas in July 🙂

We started “celebrating” it several years ago, and my kids love it. I would have definitely loved it as a kid too.

It can be very low-key – you could buy some cookies from the store and watch a favorite Christmas movie.

We usually make one or two Christmas treats, listen to Christmas music, wear Christmas pajamas, read some Christmas books… you get the idea 🙂

The kids like to get out their Christmas toys – build Christmasy Legos, dress the American Girl dolls and / or Barbies in their festive best.

Now that we plan ahead for it we stash away a box or two of candy canes in December for the occasion, & keep a small Christmas tree & strand of lights easily accessible.

If you have an Elf of the Shelf, maybe they could even get leave from the North Pole to join you for a day 😉

Seriously, the kids get so excited about it, and it also helps me hold off my Christmas enthusiasm until at least November.

We just pick one day in July that works with our schedule and call it “Christmas in July”. Here are some photos from our festivities this year…
