Life

what’s new

I was telling a friend tonight how I’ve been meaning to post some pictures and everytime I sit down, someone wakes up from their nap. Life, right?

Anyways, life here is good. It’s been really nice settling into our new home. I’ve really appreciated taking this opportunity to make our home more functional. Beautiful and functional, those are my goals. Declutter, streamline routines, make a system that works for us. For example, in our old condo, our cabinets were overflowing with coffee mugs that we never used. Like at least 20 mugs that came with our dish sets, or we got a long time ago and just do not use, ever. So we boxed those up, marked “give or sell”, and now when I open the cabinet I see the five mugs that I actually use on one side, and the handful that Landon uses on the other, and it’s just so nice! Beautiful and functional. It’s the little things, you know? Putting the spices in the cabinet by where we cook. Keeping the bathroom cleaners in the bathroom. Little things. I like ’em.

So we’ve been getting ready for a little girl’s big birthday next week. Wrapping presents, making cards, buying food. I am so excited! And in the past sometimes I’ve tried not to anticipate things too much, like holidays, vacations, because sometimes it just can’t live up to the hype, but I’ve found that with kids that’s less true. Holidays, birthdays, special days are pretty much always awesome with kids. Not to leave out room for the occasional meltdown, but overall, it’s special. I think I’m rambling. Maybe this is what happens when I have time to myself…. So now I’ll post some pictures πŸ˜‰

new baby house.

DSC_0073 Alia has been making a habit of eating the cardboard boxes. This girl loves paper. Books, magazines, boxes… I’m a little concerned about how she’ll react when we don’t let her eat the wrapping paper off her presents :/DSC_0078She looooves this toy. Started walking across the living room pushing it a few weeks ago, and last week she started walking all by herself! She’ll take a good 4-6 steps. And then we all cheer πŸ™‚DSC_0075 DSC_0104 DSC_0087Hey, pick me up!DSC_0224We’ve been making practice cakes. Because you can’t make a birthday cake for the first time for the actual birthday, right? None of the tasters have complained.DSC_0118 DSC_0107Our playroom. We are really loving it. Since we co-sleep we’ve never had any sort of nursery, so this has been really fun to set up a room just for the kids. They like it too πŸ™‚DSC_0093Trains.DSC_0242 DSC_0212Tippy tip toes…
DSC_0005Reaching for a puzzle block. It’s got paper, I’ll eat it.DSC_0016Waiting.DSC_0257DSC_0264Alia took her very first bike ride last week. Usually Kaden rides the trailer solo, but we let sister go too this time.DSC_0285DSC_0292DSC_0301DSC_0328 She seemed to be a little unsure about it.DSC_0332There may have been a little too much elbow to the face for her personal enjoyment.DSC_0336Alia’s first popsicle. Frozen watermelon.DSC_0490She was crazy about it. I took it away for a second to wipe the drips off and she totally lost it. I don’t think she’d ever cried that hard. But then she got another πŸ™‚DSC_0473Hope everyone has a great weekend!
